The American Family Association has kicked off it’s annual War on Christmas with a button campaign, here’s how the campaign is described in the most recent issue of the AFA journal:

Every Christmas, anti-Christian group such as the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) sue some city for erecting a nativity scene on public property. Likewise, fearing they may be perceived as politically incorrect, a handful of retailers replace the word “Christmas” with “Holiday” in their marketing.

This may seem like a small issue, but these things are significant because they diminish the importance of the Christian foundations of America.

Our ideas of justice, mercy, liberty and love for our fellow man are deeply rooted in the Bible, and particularly in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. That’s why America has been a light among the nations in the world.

Like the angel who appeared to the shepherds saying “I bring you good news of great joy”, we Christians have a story to tell about the blessings of honoring the true God. Telling that story can start with wearing and sharing the 2011 AFA Christmas Button.

They are already gloating about getting Petsmart to guarantee they’ll use “Christmas” in advertising.

Oh yea that’s exactly what jesus number one concern was. That his people should boycott businesses for not displaying “christmas”. Every corporation and business has the right to display whatever phrase they want. If I had a business, Id display “Merry Christmas”, “Happy Holidays”, “Happy Hanukkah” and “Merry Kwanzaa” to celebrate other people’s cultures and religions. Why don’t you people worry about something more important like starving children or people dying from diseases. Bunch of bigots!

get a life afa, I’m a Christian and I don’t mind what stores say, I prefer Christmas but if they choose not to say it I really don’t care, you just buy stuff there anyways, its not like its your home or something.

You are not a Christian how could you be if you don’t care about celebrating the birth of your saviour? you probably think everyone gets to heaven by different paths don’t even get me started maybe you’ll learn the truth when you grow up

I’m a Christian myself and while I do understand the importance of celebrating the birth of Jesus, even I realize that he wasn’t born anywhere close to Dec. 25 and the timing of the Christmas celebration was chosen somewhat arbitrarily.

I also support the right of cities, municipalities and corporations to do whatever they want regarding holiday celebrations.
